    Inspired by a heavy dose of “Walking Dead” fandom and a lot of time to kill working at Ace Hardware, Jon Hurst’s mockumentary When The Zombies Come quicklyrose in the national indie ranks before screening at the Sundance Film Festival in January. 

    But Hurst’s short film shot in Gwinnett County wasn’t the only Georgia-born flick to hit it big this year. James Ponsholdt’s The Spectacular Now took top honors at Sundance and landed som big-money backers.
